Oceania is a continent that encompasses the many islands of the Pacific ocean, including Australasia, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.

The island nation of is the only region large enough to be considered a continent.

Oceania covers more than 8.6 sq km and has a population of around 45 million with its major centres the state capitals of Australasia, and Honolulu.

Compared with the other inhabited continents Oceania is the smallest in land area and the least populated.
